A staff shortage is being blamed for delays in yard waste pickups in St. Johns County.
The county announced Thursday that its vendor, Republic Services, is facing workforce shortages both locally and regionally and has encountered difficulties completing yard waste routes on scheduled service days.
“St. Johns County appreciates your patience as we work with our provider to restore service to its regular schedule,” said Greg Caldwell, director of St. Johns County Public Works, in an email to WJCT News.

The county said "at this time," it doesn't expect any impact to household garbage or recycling collection services.
