If you’re thinking of getting a pet, the holiday weekend just might be the perfect opportunity with a free five-day adoption event now underway.See the pets available for adoption.

The city of Jacksonville’s Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) is celebrating Independence Day by hosting the event.

Free adoptions are being offered on all dogs and cats 1 year and older, although a city license fee may apply. The adoption hours are:

  • Wednesday, June 30, from noon to 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 1, from noon to 7 p.m.
  • Friday, July 2, from noon to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 3, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sunday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“While some animals are adopted more quickly than others, all pets available for adoption at ACPS make great additions to families in our community,” said ACPS Shelter Manager Marcy Gallo in an email sent to WJCT News.
The ACPS shelter is located at 2020 Forest St., Jacksonville, FL 32204.
