The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department tweeted this photo Wednesday afternoon, saying a tree fell, triggering a fatal accident.

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department was responding to a fatal accident in Ortega Wednesday afternoon.

JDRD said a tree fell, hitting two cars. “This is a fatal accident,” JFRD tweeted.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office later confirmed to WJCT News partner News4Jax that the victim was a 25-year-old man, who died after the falling tree limb tore the roof off of his car and his vehicle struck a utility pole.

It happened in the 4900 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, which was closed from Ortega Boulevard to Yacht Club Road while emergency personnel responded.
