LifeSouth is making an urgent plea for blood donors in Jacksonville.
The community blood bank says blood supplies are at emergency low levels here and around the country.
With less than a two-day supply on hand to help patients at local hospitals, LifeSouth is adding hours on Saturdays for people who can’t donate during the week.
Its Northeast Florida donation center at 7840 Baymeadows Way will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays, starting tomorrow, July 17.
Blood donations can also be made a variety of sites, including Baptist and UF Health hospitals in Downtown Jacksonville.
The nonprofit says all blood types are critically needed.
