Lisa Koehler, a social studies teacher at Stanton College Preparatory School, has died. She was 46 years old.
Koehler was known by her students for turning her classroom into a safe haven for students to turn to.
"She provided a safe space for students of all backgrounds to be themselves and confide in her with their troubles," the student newspaper, The Devil's Advocate, said in a social media post. "She cared equally for her students' mental well-being and their academic success."
