The Acosta Bridge glows yellow for Spina Bifida Awareness Month.

Jacksonville's Acosta Bridge will glow yellow through Saturday night to raise awareness of and honor those living with spina bifida.

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority adopted the color change since October is Spina Bifida Awareness Month, one of a multitude of special causes that have seen the bridge's lighting system modified to honor an event or cause.

For Demery Webber, executive director of Spina Bifida of Jacksonville, the color change is very meaningful. The Acosta Bridge was visible to her almost daily as daughter Lindsey was treated at nearby Wolfson Children's Hospital for complications of her condition over the past few months. One of those extended hospital stays lasted 49 days, Webber said.
