JEA electric bills will jump starting Dec. 1

JEA

The typical residential bill for a JEA customer using 1,000 kwh will likely increase by about $6 for electricity they consume starting Dec. 1 as the utility deals with higher costs for natural gas that powers its electric generating stations.

The amount of increase will vary based on how much electricity a customers uses. The actual change will show up for most customers when they get their bills in January.

A residential customer using 1,000 kwh a month currently pays $108.23 to JEA before city and state taxes and fees are added. JEA estimates that would go up to $114.63 for electricity consumed in December based on forecasts for the cost of buying fuel for power stations.
