The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will showcase their skills in the skies over Jacksonville Beach in 2023.
The team announced this week that it will appear at the Sea and Sky Air Show from Oct. 21 to 22, among 62 shows during the Blue Angels' 77th season.
Appearances also are scheduled that year in Lakeland, Key West, Fort Lauderdale and Pensacola Beach.
The team performed at the Sea and Sky Airshow in 2019 and returned to Jacksonville in 2020 as part of nationwide flyovers to salute health care workers and first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Blue Angels' first demonstration took place in June 1946 at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, the squadron's first home base. Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, chief of naval operations, ordered the formation of the team after WWII to increase appreciation for naval aviation.
The Blue Angels now are stationed at Naval Air Station Pensacola.
