Jacksonville will host the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl for another five years in a newly approved contract that City Council member Ron Salem said gives the city a shot at landing coveted College Football Playoff games.
“This is a big deal for the Gator Bowl," Salem said when City Council unanimously approved extending its contract with Gator Bowl Sports.
Jacksonville will continue leasing city-owned TIAA Bank Field to Gator Bowl Sports for the long-running game while also providing millions of dollars in financial support and game-day services over the term of the lease.
