COVID-19 task force tries to boost vaccine in Black community

The Jacksonville COVID-19 task force, part of a statewide group formed in 2020 to promote the vaccine in the Black community, will provide free vaccines Saturday at two locations.

The task force "is doing its part to combat COVID and ensure that families have a wonderful Christmas since so many families were unable to gather for the holidays last year," said member Betty Burney, founder and executive director of the I'm a Star Foundation, a youth leadership nonprofit.

The goal for the two simultaneous events is "to impact the African American community to get vaccinated," she said.
