Onca was born in October 2001 and arrived at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens a short time later.

Onca, a jaguar that has lived at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens since she was just a cub, was euthanized at the zoo this week due to declining health.

A post on the zoo's Facebook page says the zoo staff is "heartbroken" by the news of the 20-year-old Onca's passing.

"At 20-years-old, she was experiencing declining health, and we made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize her. Though we are awaiting results, it appears she might have been suffering from kidney failure and cancer," the post states.
