Former Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels is now facing more charges, and his attorneys asked a judge Wednesday for more time to prepare for trial because of the new charges filed by the state.
Daniels faces charges of giving false information and tampering with evidence during an investigation into an affair with a former co-worker.
The new charges against Daniels include three additional counts of giving false information to a law enforcement officer for a total of five such charges. He also faces one count of tampering with evidence.
