Rising JEA electric bills might drop in March

A double-whammy of cold weather and higher JEA electric charges caused many residential customers to find a big jump in February on the bottom line of their electric bills.

JEA says month-over-month increases in the fuel charge portion of bills that started in December will likely trend down beginning March 1 as the utility reaches a stabilization point for passing on its cost of buying natural gas.

But the fuel charge still will settle in at a higher amount than it was before JEA started making adjustments that raised the typical residential bill by 18 percent through this month.
