Here's a chance to pay off traffic tickets without collection fees

Randy Roguski

People in Jacksonville with outstanding traffic tickets or criminal fees can pay them later this month without an additional collection fee tacked on.

The Duval County Clerk of Courts is waiving its usual collections surcharge as part of a statewide initiative (sponsored by the Florida Clerks of Court) called Operation Green Light.  Late fees and interest still apply, though.

Starting March 28, Operation Green Light offers a five-day window to allow those who may have a suspended license to pay what they owe in order to get back on the road.

It’s the fifth time the Clerk’s Office has offered the program. Payments can be made at the Duval County Courthouse downtown or the Clerk’s Beaches Branch on Atlantic Boulevard from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (with extended hours at the courthouse until 7 p.m. on Thursday.)  No appointment is needed.
