Frazier Jewelers in Ortega is closing after 45 years. Owner Butch Frazier is retiring.

The store at 2925 Corinthian Ave. is going out with a 70%-off sale on engagement rings, wedding bands, pendants, bracelets, earrings and timepieces.

Frazier began his jewelry career in 1963 as a stock boy at Zale’s, never expecting that his small endeavor would spark a lifelong career in the industry.

After leaving Zales in 1971, Frazier joined WL Sutton, a jewelry wholesale company where he worked for six years before he and his wife decided to open their own business.

In 1977, Frazier Jewelers was opened in a small corner of Carter’s Pharmacy. Over the years, he renovated his space, building a wall to separate it and growing his business.

Frazier said he is most fulfilled to have been included in the celebrations of love and life throughout the community.

“We are very thankful that you have made us a proud Jacksonville tradition for many years," he said in a news release. "We cherish the many friendships and would love to see you again before closing our doors forever.”
