Discount air carrier Breeze Airways is adding a nonstop route from Jacksonville International Airport to Westchester Airport in New York, about 30 miles north of Manhattan.

Flights will begin June 30 on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Fares start at $79 one way.

This will be Breeze's eighth nonstop route from JAX since the airline announced a nationwide expansion in March. The other destinations are Columbus, Ohio; Hartford, Connecticut; Las Vegas; New Orleans; Providence, Rhode Island; Norfolk, Virgina; and Richmond, Virginia.

Those flights will begin at staggered times throughout the summer, starting next month.

“We are ecstatic to see Breeze grow in Jacksonville before their first flight has taken off,” Jacksonville Aviation Authority CEO Mark VanLoh said in a news release.

Breeze, the 10th carrier serving JAX, markets itself as the "Seriously Nice Airline," with fare levels labeled Nice, Nicer and Nicest.

The $79 fare to Westchester is classified as Nice. A Nicer fare will start at $129 one way. It includes more leg room, a carry-on bag, a checked bag, and a snack and drink.

Flights are available at Breeze's website.

Breeze also serves airports in Tampa, Fort Myers, Sarasota/Bradenton and West Palm Beach. Flights from Jacksonville will not travel nonstop to those cities.
