With people waiting hours to get in, Andrea and Jimmy Plowden are already planning their second Peach Cobbler Factory in Jacksonville.

Only about 3% of Jacksonville's business owners are Black, but one of them is causing quite a sensation on social media — the Peach Cobbler Factory.

The dessert shop in the Fairfax neighborhood on the Westside has become so popular in just two weeks that the owners are already looking to open a second location.

If you check out the Peach Cobbler Factory Jacksonville on social media, you’ll see countless posts of people waiting for hours … just to get inside.

“In 2022, social media has been by far the most influential platform for us here, Peach Cobbler Factory Jacksonville,” said co-owner Andrea Plowden.

The Peach Cobbler Factory will bring a menu of cobblers, banana puddings and cinnamon rolls to its first Jacksonville-area restaurant at Ortega Park.

She and her husband, Jimmy, are the owners. He says they still can’t believe the positive reaction they’ve had from the community.

“The first day, we had about 10,000 people outside, and we were like, 'What is going on?'” he said.

“For Jimmy and I and our staff, a lot of times that means 16-hour days. And there's no complaints about that because we absolutely love what we do. We just wish we had enough to serve all of the individuals that wanted on a daily basis,” Plowden said.

To help curb the large crowds, the Plowdens say they plan to open a second location within the next eight months in River City Marketplace in North Jacksonville.
