Free HIV, Hepatitis testing Wednesday in Middleburg

Wikimedia Commons

Free HIV, STD, and Hepatitis B and C will be provided this Wednesday, August 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Paramedicine Office located at 2710 Blanding Boulevard, Suite 8, in Middleburg. Anyone is welcome, regardless of residency. No appointment is needed.

Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, a vital organ that processes nutrients, filters the blood, and fights infections. When the liver is inflamed or damaged, its function can be affected.

According to the Department of Health in 2020, 6,150 deaths in Florida were associated with opioid overdose, and 44% of those people were also infected by Hepatitis. As the opioid epidemic continues to increase, Hepatitis infections are also expected to increase. About 4 in 10 people don’t know they are infected with Hepatitis, which is why widespread testing is paramount to stopping the spread.

IMG Health Clinics are working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to provide comprehensive healthcare services to help reduce the spread of HIV, Hepatitis, and STDs, especially among the most vulnerable populations.

HIV and Hepatitis testing will be done on-site, and the results are available within minutes. If someone tests positive, a health care provider will work with clients to decide which treatment is best for them.

IMG provides testing and treatment regardless of socioeconomic class and with or without insurance coverage. For more information about the free HIV and Hepatitis testing event, call 1-800-773-7066.
