As Hurricane Ian gains strength and approaches Florida, school districts and colleges are announcing school closures for this week.
Duval, St. Johns, Nassau and Clay counties announced Tuesday that they will close. That followed announcements Monday in Baker and Putnam counties.
In Duval, all schools will be closed Wednesday through Friday. The district altered earlier plans after Mayor Lenny Curry indicated he is considering evacuations in Zone A. All school operations and activities are canceled. For more information, see the Duval Schools update online.

The Catholic Diocese of St. Augustine announced that Catholic schools will be closed Wednesday through Friday in all 17 of its counties. Check dosaeducation.org for the operation status of each school.
Jacksonville University and Florida State College at Jacksonville will close all of their campuses Wednesday through Friday. The University of North Florida will close Wednesday through Saturday. Keiser University Jacksonville will close at 2 p.m. Wednesday and remained closed through Friday.
Episcopal School of Jacksonville's three campuses will be closed Thursday and Friday.
IDEA Public Schools in Jacksonville will be closed from Wednesday through Friday.
Glynn County Schools in Georgia will be closed Thursday and Friday.
