Nassau County Planning Director Adrienne Burke speaks at the groundbreaking for Tributary Park, off Edwards Road.

The first 40-acre phase of Nassau County’s 20th park officially opens Tuesday on Edwards Road, just west of Interstate 95.

Tributary Park in Yulee is next to GreenPointe Developers’ community with the same name. The developers donated more than 40 acres in 2020 to Nassau County for conversion into a regional park.

The first phase includes a playground, a pair of baseball fields, two multiuse fields, walking trail and restroom facility. Future phases will include more baseball fields and trails, a dog park and boardwalk with canoe and kayak launch.

County parks and recreation director Jay Robertson called the new park “a dream come true.” And along with building the park and preserving wetlands in the area, GreenPointe also donated a site for a county public school and a fire station.
