The Mathews Bridge connects Downtown Jacksonville and Arlington.

Roadwork will disrupt your trip across the Mathews Bridge on the weekend.

Eastbound lanes will be shut down Friday night and reopen Monday morning as the state conducts renovation work, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

The shutdown of the lanes from Downtown to Arlington starts at 9 p.m. Friday.

Eastbound Mathews Bridge traffic will detour to the Arlington Expressway via the Hart Bridge and Atlantic, University and Cesery boulevards.

The roadway will reopen at 6 a.m. Monday, the FDOT says.

The bridge repair project includes truss painting and steel rehabilitation, part of an overall $8.1 million project slated for completion next summer, the FDOT said.
