Feel like a warm winter? February was the hottest in Jacksonville's history

A bitter-cold Christmas was basically the only taste of winter we've seen since.

Nine of the past 40 days have tied or broke record highs, and last month was the hottest February in Jacksonville’s history, according to weather records.

The average daily high last month was 79.4 degrees, almost 11 degrees warmer than normal. After averaging the mild nights with the warm days, the total average was the warmest on record at 65.9 degrees — the type of weather we typically experience in late April and May.
