The "open" sign shines brightly. The tables are set. The smiles are warm and welcoming.

Junior's Seafood Restaurant & Grill is open again — 15 months after a two-alarm, predawn fire gutted the landmark restaurant in North Jacksonville and also threatened to destroy its adjoining sister restaurant, Junior's Famous Sandwiches.

Family-owned for 46 years, the side-by-side restaurants off Interstate 95 near Imeson Park built a reputation for prodigious portions of fresh seafood and fish at affordable prices — all served with genuine hospitality by folks who know their customers as well as their kids by name.
