Notre Dame's Blake Grupe kicks a 37-yard field goal in the first half of the 78th TaxSlayer Gator Bowl on Dec. 30, 2022.

The 79th Annual TaxSlayer Gator Bowl will kick off at high noon Dec. 29, televised nationally on ESPN.

The announcement Wednesday follows Jacksonville's confirmation in January that the Gator Bowl will continue to be played at TIAA Bank Field through the 2027 season.

TaxSlayer Gator Bowl Chairman Alan Worley said he cannot think of a better way for fans to ring in 2024 than to spend part of the New Year’s Eve weekend at the Jacksonville stadium.

"Downtown Jacksonville and the sports complex will be electric with the 79th annual TaxSlayer Gator Bowl game on Friday, Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday and fireworks to celebrate the New Year,” Worley said in a news release.

TaxSlayer CEO Jamie Saxe said, “This marks another year in a long-standing partnership between our organizations, and we couldn’t be prouder to carry on the tradition.”

The 79th annual game will feature a school from the Southeastern Conference facing an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference. Those teams will be announced Dec. 3.

Tickets for the 79th TaxSlayer Gator Bowl will go on sale Sept. 19 through Ticketmaster. Annual ticket holders can begin the renewal process Thursday. Prospective buyers who purchase tickets from a TaxSlayer Gator Bowl “green jacket member” before Dec. 1 will receive preferred pricing.

TaxSlayer, an online tax filing company based in Augusta, Georgia, has sponsored the game since 2012, making it the longest-tenured sponsor in Gator Bowl history.
