The Emmett Reed Community Center in Jacksonville has been temporarily shut down due to an electrical problem.
The center on West 6th Street could be closed from two to four weeks as work is done. Workers must wait for materials to handle temporary repairs, the city said.
The community center’s closure caused the postponement of the Center of Hope’s annual Juneteenth community celebration on Wednesday.
Jada Hunter, executive director for community reinvestment, said the Center of Hope staff and their community partners were shifting programming to neighboring locations to minimize disruption.
The temporary closure will affect a city summer camp scheduled to start Tuesday.
City officials say they are working on a contingency plan for the Summer Camp Program, which should be in place by early next week.
