Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville will begin construction of a Hilton Hotel this summer, with completion expected in 2025.

The $70 million, eight-story hotel will contain 252 guest rooms, located within a few hundred yards of Mayo Clinic facilities, according to a Mayo Clinic news release. Construction will occur near the newly built J. Turner Butler Boulevard entrance to Transformation Way. The hotel will offer a fitness center, a restaurant and indoor and outdoor meeting spaces.

The hotel will be the fourth active construction site at Mayo Clinic. Other projects on-site include an integrated oncology building, a five-floor expansion to the hospital and a central utilities plant. Mayo says it has spent more than $1 billion on major construction projects since 2016.

To celebrate the start of construction, Mayo Clinic will have a groundbreaking ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday featuring representatives from Mayo Clinic in Florida, Concord Hospitality Enterprises, Whitman Petersen and Hilton.

Mayo Clinic Hospital opened with six floors and 214 beds in 2008. The clinic was expanded in 2012 when two floors and 90 beds were added. The hospital is expected to have 1.4 million square feet, 13 floors and 428 patient beds after its current expansion.
