Shands Jacksonville is changing its name to UF Health at Jacksonville.
The change takes effect immediately.
Hospital and university officials say the rebranding will help focus on the research, teaching and patient care differences between UF Health and its competitors.
CEO Russ Armistead says despite a long affiliation, many people are unaware of the university’s role with the hospital.
Armistead says this is only a name change, and there will be no effect on management or staff.
Research conducted last fall indicated that residents have a positive view of the hospital’s ties to the University of Florida.
