Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Hosting Gun Buy Back Program

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s office is holding a gun buy back next weekend.

The guns will be purchased for $50 each, no questions asked.

JSO Director Alan Williams says its an opportunity for people to safely dispose of weapons they no longer want.

The buy back is Saturday, June 29, from 10am to 2pm at the Elks Lodge at 712 West Duval Street in downtown Jacksonville.

Williams says weapons should be unloaded and transported in the trunk of the vehicle.

At least three more gun backs are planned for Duval County this year.

The buy back is being co-sponsored by The Community Foundation, The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce and First Coast Crime Stoppers.

Here is video of Williams speaking to reporters about the gun buyback program.
