Witness: Martin Rained Blows While Zimmerman Cried for Help

Joe Burbank/Orlando Sentinel

A witness in George Zimmerman's second-degree murder trial told jurors Friday he saw Trayvon Martin on top of Zimmerman during the deadly scuffle. Neighbor John Good testified that Zimmerman was calling for help.

Good said he went outside when he heard the tussle. He saw someone dressed in dark clothing on top of someone else in light or red clothing.

Martin wore a gray hoodie, Zimmerman a red jacket.

Defense attorney Mark O'Mara asked Good to explain what he saw.

O'Mara: "The person who you now know to be Trayvon Martin was on top, correct? Good: "Correct. " O'Mara: "And he was the one who was raining blows down on the person on the bottom, George Zimmerman, right?" Good: "That's what it looked like."

Good said the teen straddled Zimmerman. He believes it was Zimmerman crying for help because of the position of the two people and the way the sound carried.

Prosecutors say Zimmerman profiled, followed and murdered Martin, but Zimmerman says he was attacked and fired in self defense.
