Riverside Neighborhood Shaken After Restaurant Employee Killed

Facebook

Jacksonville police are asking for any information that can lead to arrest in the killing of a Riverside bar employee Wednesday night.

People who live and work near the scene of the shooting are uneasy with the suspects still on the loose.

The Blind Rabbit bar and restaurant reopened Friday morning after closing for a day out of respect for employee Daniel Rowe. Police say witnesses saw two men fleeing after the shooting in the alley behind Blind Rabbit around 10 Wednesday.

Juan Pablo Salvat runs Southern Roots Filling Station a few blocks up King Street from Blind Rabbit and says he lives nearby.

Salvay said, “Right now everyone is just kind of like, ‘What the heck? What happened?’”

He says neighbors are uneasy without knowing the shooter’s motive.

“If I find out that it’s completely random, then that changes a lot,” he said.

Police say they’re trying to get surveillance video from nearby businesses. They ask anyone who may have seen something to call them or First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS (8477).
