A thousand homes, new restaurants and shops are planned for the Southbank riverfront.
Developer Peter Rummell unveiled his master plan Wednesday for the mixed-use development he’s calling Healthy Town.
He’s building it on the vacant property next to the Duval County School Board building.
“There will be a 600-square-foot efficiency apartment you can rent that a 28-year-old with a good job can afford. And then it would go all the way to a 3,500-square-foot condominium penthouse that somebody could spend a couple million bucks on,” he said.
Rummell says residents should be able to start moving in by the end of 2017. And that includes him.
“That’s the ultimate test, I guess. The answer is yes. We’re new empty nesters, my wife and I, and we’re like a lot of people: We’re in a house that’s too big, so it is seriously on the horizon,” he said.
What’s also on the horizon, Rummell says, is a better name than Healthy Town — and he’s calling on the public to help him come up with one.
The winner will get his or her name on a plaque at the development. At the development's website, www.healthy.town, the link to "suggest a name" is in the top right corner.
