A federal jury in Jacksonville on Friday convicted the former commander of the U.S. Navy base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba of interfering with an investigation into the 2015 death of a civilian contractor.

Navy Captain John Nettleton had fought and argued with Christopher Tur over his alleged affair with Tur’s wife.

Nettleton was found guilty of obstruction of justice, concealing material facts, falsifying records and making false statements.

He had been removed from command shortly after Tur’s body was found.

He was not charged with Tur's death.
