Today’s Media Roundtable discussed some of the top stories in the First Coast, including:
- Two former top executives at JEA pleaded not guilty this week to federal charges linked to their controversial attempt to sell the utility — and skim some money for themselves off the top. Former CEO Aaron Zahn and Chief Financial Officer Ryan Wannemacher were brought into the courtroom in handcuffs and chains and released on $100,000 bonds after their arraignments.
- From new restrictions on abortion to an immigration bill to the measure critics call “Don’t Say, Gay,” to another bill called the Stop WOKE Act — a slew of measures are headed to the governor’s desk that conservative voters in Florida love, while other constituents fear the state is on a sharp rightward turn.
- Big crowds flocked to TPC Sawgrass this week for the return of THE PLAYERS Championship. One highlight: golf great Tiger Woods was inducted earlier this week into the World Golf Hall of Fame’s Class of 2022.
Guests:
- Daily Dot’s Claire Goforth.
- Mike Mendenhall of the Jacksonville Daily Record.
- David Bauerlein of The Florida Times-Union.
- Writer Nikesha Williams.
