Mayor Brown Forms Pension Reform Task Force

Rogers Towers Law Firm

Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown has created a task force to review the administration’s proposed pension reform bill.

Local attorney Bill Scheu will chair the 11-member panel.

The task force also includes: City Council Finance Committee chairman Greg Anderson; dentist Dr. Chester Aikens; Charles Appleby CEO of Advanced Disposal; Jacksonville labor and employment law attorney Kristen Doolittle; retired Regency Centers Senior Vice-President Robert Miller; HCI Group Executive Vice-President Kelli O'Leary; Mayo Clinic CEO and JAX Chamber Chairman-Elect Dr. William Rupp; philanthropist Robert Shircliff; Bank of America President and JAX Chamber Chair Greg Smith; and Baptist Health Chief Operating Officer John Wilbanks.

Scheu says they’ll fully examine the pension proposal and work as an independent body from the Mayor’s office.

The task force will hold its first meeting Wednesday, July 10, at City Hall from 2PM to 6AM. All of its meetings will be open to the public.

Scheu says he expects the panel will come up with a recommendation in August.
