Most Florida counties are reporting a smooth and steady early voting and absentee turnout so far.
According to Duval County Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland, more than a million Floridians have voted ahead of the November 4th general election. He also heads the Florida State Association of Supervisor of Elections.
“Between the absentee vote and the early vote so far, somewhere around nine percent of the Florida voters have already voted, which is a good start for the first week because we’ve got some counties who won’t start their early voting until Saturday, which is the minimum number of days you need to perform early voting,” said Holland.
Holland says while most started Monday, about less than a third of Florida’s 67 counties opted to start early voting Saturday because they have smaller populations.
Meanwhile, voters can still request an absentee ballot until the Thursday before Election Day. Holland says while there are currently more absentee voters, he expects a dead heat with early voters by Monday.
