Fullwood Wins Special Primary For Jacksonville House Distict 13

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Reggie Fullwood took one step closer to possibly winning another term in Florida's House of Representatives on Tuesday, beating Johnny Gaffney in the Democratic primary of a special election for House District 13.

With all 48 precincts reporting, Fullwood had 63.78 percent of the vote (3,547 votes), and Gaffney finished with 2,014 votes (36.22 percent).

The seat, which represents Jacksonville's urban core, is currently open because Fullwood, who had held the seat since 2010, had clerical errors in paperwork qualifying for re-election and no other candidates qualified in the November election.

Reggie Fullwood 3,547 votes 63.78 percent
Johnny Gaffney  2,014 votes 36.22 percent

Jacksonville City Councilman Johnny Gaffney, who said he was planning to run in 2016 when Fullwood would have to leave office due to term limits, qualified to run in this special election, along with Republican Lawrence "Jeff" Jefferson.
Fullwood advances to the Feb. 17 general election against Jefferson.

Over nine days of early voting and ballots received by mail, 3,341 or 6.2 percent of voters in the districts voted before Election Day.
