2nd Annual Jacksonville's Longest Table Is Tonight

If you work downtown you may notice quite a few people headed toward the Jax Chamber building next to the Main Street Bridge this evening.

They’ll be gathering for the Second Annual Jacksonville’s Longest Table.

The sold out event features an open-air dinner that will that will stretch more than 600 feet down Independent Drive.

The idea is simple. It’s a way to get people talking and to connect diverse groups through sharing a meal.

“Seeing hundreds of people from all across our great city sitting next to each other at one table was truly amazing, but what’s even more remarkable are the meaningful conversations and relationships that began that night,” JAX Chamber Chair Darnell Smith said earlier about last year's event.

Dozens of dignitaries that include elected officials, business leaders and religious leaders will also be attending the event, according the chamber.

Five hundred tickets were distributed to the free community event which runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. this evening.
