3/28/19: David Lawrence Jr; ROOTS Weekend; Gogol Bordello

Mar 28, 2019

David Lawrence Junior, the former publisher of the Miami Herald, started the Children’s Movement here in Florida.

He has recently released an inspirational memoir about service and the importance of journalism as a bastion of democracy. It’s called A Dedicated Life.

Lawrence discussed his book, the Children's Movement, and the importance of journalism and how consuming the media has evolved over the years with us.

It’s called ROOTS Weekend, a convening of artists, activists, and organizers working together to build community. It takes place in Jacksonville this weekend as part of Alternate ROOTS, which supports the creation and presentation of original arts in all its forms.

Writer Yvette Angelique Hyater-Adams joined us with more information about the event and how art can help bring attention to injustices.
