Anyone who brings a senior can get vaccinated for a limited time only this Saturday, March 13, at the Gateway Town Center.
The special event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will include ice cream and honey drippers, according to a flier posted on Facebook by State Senator Audrey Gibson.
The Duval County Democrat dubbed the event “We Care-Each One Gets One.”
Only one caregiver will be vaccinated per eligible senior.
Gateway will continue offering regular shots to all eligible people, which is currently those 65 and over; K-12 school teachers, firefighters and police officers 50 and over; all frontline health care workers; and individuals deemed extremely vulnerable to COVID-19.
Beginning Monday, March 15, people aged 60 to 64 will also be eligible.
The Gateway Town Center vaccination site is open regularly from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. JTA is offering free rides to Gateway for those going to get vaccinated: Call (904) 630-6100 to arrange a ride.
