Duval County's House District 12 Race Starts Taking Shape

Adam Brandon (center), pictured here with his family, has opened an account to run for a state House seat.

The first candidate has emerged to try to replace outgoing Jacksonville state Rep. Clay Yarborough in 2022.

Jacksonville Republican Adam Brandon opened an account to run in what is now Duval County’s House District 12. Yarborough plans to run for the Senate in 2022, opening the House seat.

Also this week, Lakeland Republican Nicholas Greg Poucher became the third candidate to open an account to try to succeed term-limited Rep. Colleen Burton, R-Lakeland, in what is now Polk County’s House District 40. Poucher joined fellow Republicans Jennifer Canady and Phillip Walker in the race.

Meanwhile, Panama City Republican Grey Dodge opened a campaign account Tuesday to run next year in what is now Bay County’s House District 6, which is the seat currently held by outgoing House member Jay Trumbull.

District boundaries - and potentially numbers - will change before the 2022 elections because of the once-a-decade reapportionment process.
