Fourth Annual Farming Tour To Highlight First Coast 'Slow Food' Movement

Local farmers, artisans, chefs, and "slow food" advocates are opening their gates for an afternoon billed as the largest food movement event in Northeast Florida.The 2014 Tour de Farm is scheduled for Sunday, April 13 from 12-5 p.m.

The event, now in it's fourth year, provides residents an opportunity to meet the farmers who produce local food and the chefs and artisans who are committed to using locally-grown ingredients. Thousands of visitors expected at this year’s event.

Dr. Leslie Kaplan, associate director of the Honors Program at the University of North Florida and Carmen Franz, director of the Tour de Farm, joined Melissa Ross to preview this year's tour.

Melissa Ross joined WJCT in 2009 with 20 years of experience in broadcasting, including stints in Cincinnati, Chicago, Orlando and Jacksonville. During her career as a television and radio news anchor and reporter, Melissa has won four regional Emmys for news and feature reporting.
