Getting to the Jaguars-Colts Game Without The Mathews Bridge

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is encouraging Jaguar fans to head to Everbank Field about a half hour earlier than usual on Sunday as extra delays are expected due to the closure of the Mathews Bridge.

JSO Assistant Chief Leonard Propper says fans who usually take the Mathews to the stadium should use the Hart Bridge and fans who normally take the Hart should come in on the Main Street Bridge.

"The Sheriff's office has increased staffing for this game to staff this detour route. We've put some additional people on the westside to help them get to the eastside," Propper said.

"We have a very good plan in place. we've met with all the supervisors and we don't foresee any major problems during the Jaguars game because of this Mathews Bridge being down."

Propper is also encouraging fans to use the public transportation available like the JTA shuttle busses or the river taxi.

He says police will be at major intersections controlling the timing of traffic lights to keep traffic moving.
