When an investigator with the Department of Children and Families follows up on a call to its abuse hotline and determines there is reason to suspect a child has been abused or neglected in Lee, Charlotte, Hendry or Glades Counties, the case is referred to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Southwest Florida.

For nearly 40 years, it has been assessing and treating kids who have been physically or sexually abused or who are at risk of such abuse.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, so we’re sitting down with two members of the CAC’s Child Protection Team to learn more about what they do and what resources are available to kids and families.
