Duval County Public Schools board member and former board chairwoman Lori Hershey is throwing her hat in the ring for Duval County’s District 16 state House seat, which is up for grabs in 2022.
The Republican opened a campaign account Wednesday, according to the state Division of Elections website.
The seat is being vacated by Jacksonville Republican Jason Fischer, who is running for the District 4 state Senate seat.
Hershey is the second candidate and second Republican to enter the District 16 House seat race. Adam Brandon, a commander and 14-year veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve, has also filed to run.
Hershey hasn’t listed posted any campaign finance reports yet, but Brandon has amassed more than $67,000 in contributions so far, according to the state Division of Elections.
Hershey is a licensed real estate agent. She holds a master’s degree in public administration and is working on her doctoral degree through Grand Canyon University, according to her Duval County Public Schools district profile page.
