Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas are the oldest masonry fortifications in the country.
WJCT producer Rich Conner worked with the National Park Service to tell their stories through video.
One of the videos include the limestone and sea shell material - called coquina - that was used for the walls while another looks at the glacis – which is the green that runs up toward the Castillo and was used as a golf course.
Conner said they produced nearly a dozen 360 degree videos of things like cannon demonstrations.
“You can take your finger and you can push the video left or right to spin the camera around. You can see what all the re-enactors are doing. You can also see the crowd standing there watching, putting their fingers in their ears—getting ready for the firing of the cannon.”
