No Plans? No Problem! Things To Do This Weekend On The First Coast

Folio Weekly

You can dance, you can jive, you can do a lot on the First Coast this weekend, from taking in a Broadway show, to running for a great cause, to partaking in (yes, more) German cuisine and beer.

Friday, October 18 - Saturday, October 19 — See that girl, watch those scenes, you can dig the Broadway smash Mamma Mia! at the Times-Union Center. More info at ArtistSeriesJax.org.

Saturday, October 19 — Run or walk for a good cause, finding a cure for breast cancer, at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. The race is the largest series of 5K events in the world. The race starts at 7 a.m. in Metropolitan Park. More info at KomenNorthFlorida.org.

Saturday, October 19 — Folio Weekly's Oktoberfest at the St. Augustine Amplitheatre will feature live music from PAPERCUTT and 32 oz. To Freedom. The event is 6-10 p.m. and for those 21-year-old or older with no children admitted. More info at FolioWeekly.com.

Sunday, October 20 — For the 26th year, the Southern Women’s Show brings food, fashion and fun to First Coast. This year’s event features makeovers, psychic readings, a mother daughter look-alike contest, and appearances by etiquette expert Heather Post and Duck Dynasty’s Jessica Robertson (AKA Jep’s wife). The show will be held at the Prime Osborn Convention Center. More info at SouthernShows.com.

Sunday, October 20 — Your Jacksonville Jaguars return to Everbank Field to take on the San Diego Chargers. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. More info at Jaguars.com.

You can see more weekend events at Kerry Speckman's 'The Specktator" blog at Folio Weekly.

Remember to tune in to First Coast Connect on Thursdays at around 9:50 a.m. to hear 'Around Town' with Jacksonville Magazine's Kerry Speckman for a preview of upcoming weekend events.
