One Spark Founders Have Global Plans

Karen Feagins

The leaders of Jacksonville’s One Spark Festival are not only growing the event here in town, they want to make One Spark a global brand by replicating the idea in other cities internationally.

More than 130,000 people gathered in downtown Jacksonville last April for the first One Spark crowdfunding festival. Leaders of the event say they’ll still focus on making the local festival bigger and better, but they’re also going to expand the One Spark idea to other markets

Elton Rivas, one of the co-founders of One Spark, said the headquarters will be in Jacksonville and representatives from other cities will send people here to learn how to create their own One Spark festivals.

"There’s genuinely a global opportunity to build a brand that’s known worldwide and becomes kind of like a worldwide platform for doers that’s based on crowdfunding as the foundation," he said.

Rivas added the appeal of One Spark is that it connects ideas that are already in action with financial resources.

He and the One Spark team recently spent time in Berlin and he says leaders from several other major international cities have expressed interest in the idea.
