Florida lawmakers adjourned the state’s annual legislative session, Saturday, with an historic $91.1 billion budget for the coming fiscal year. Although just 5.6% of the nearly 3,500 bills filed during the session actually passed, Senate President Bill Galvano, House Speaker Jose Oliva and Governor Ron DeSantis are claiming victory, as many of their legislative priorities did pass.
Our panel of political science experts provides post session-analysis on legislation covering education, school safety, water quality and the environment, immigration, agriculture and much more as we explore what passed, what didn’t and what it means for Floridians going forward. We’ll hear from Florida Gulf Coast University Political Scientist Peter Bergerson, Ph.D., University of Central Florida Political Science professor Aubrey Jewett, Ph.D., and political scientist and University of South Florida professor emerita, Susan MacManus, Ph.D.
