The Timucuan Parks Foundation will be coordinating volunteer cleanups this Saturday, September, 21, at Fort Caroline National Memorial, Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park and the Reddie Point Preserve.

The cleanups are part of the annual international effort to keep the oceans and shorelines clean. The foundation is coordinating the cleanups in partnership with the city of Jacksonville and the National Park Service.

Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toed shoes and bring sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, sunglasses and water if possible. The organization will provide gloves, trash bags, snacks and water.

The times and locations are as follows:

  • Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The park is located at 500 Wonderwood Dr., and participants should follow gate attendant directions to the lakeside parking area.
  • Reddie Point Preserve: 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 4499 Yachtsman Way. Volunteers should meet at the pavillion by the pier.
