Today’s Media Roundtable discussed some of the top stories in the First Coast, including:

  • The Federal Trade Commission launched a probe into supply chain issues. Amazon, which has a significant presence in Jacksonville, is asked to produce records supporting rising prices for consumers. Smaller businesses like local Christmas tree lots are running out of inventory early this year.
  • Democrat Tracey Polson and Republican Nick Howland, who received about 37% and 36% of the vote, respectively, will face off in a Feb 22 runoff election to fill the late Tommy Hazouri's at-large City Council seat.
  • After months of closure to serve as a state-run monoclonal antibody clinic for people with COVID-19, the Main Library will reopen next week.
  • The Clay County School Board took its final vote Thursday on moving hundreds of students to new schools.
  • The Florida Department of Education removed links to anti-bullying resources, specifically those addressing concerns of the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Duval County Public School teachers’ salaries will be raised from a minimum of $45,891 to $47,500 following a push from Gov. Ron DeSantis.
